Bride’s story

I love all things Disney, fitness, Star Wars, the beach, and food. Upon graduating from Southern Connecticut State University in 2010, I started working full time in the Human Resources field as a Recruiter.

In my spare time you can find me working out, at the beach, reading fitness blogs, and drinking wine.

Groom’s story

I just want to thank all of my family and friends for all the love and support they have given Danielle and myself throughout the years.

I can't wait to spend the big day with all of the people I care about the most.

“We met in school, chatted on AIM, and played tennis together. One great thing led to another and the rest is history.”

OUR TIMELINE

2005
May 2005

The day we met

We went to high school together and grew up in the same town, so we were familiar with each other by name but weren’t friends. We officially “met” one day in May 2005 when we had arranged to play tennis after school.

July 5

Our first official date

We saw Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith at Regal Cinema in Branford, CT

July 6

Started Dating

Thanks to our groomsman Adam and bridesmaid Lauren for assisting with the process on an AIM Chat!

July 2005

First Dinner

Our first dinner date was at Ruby Tuesday in July of 2005. It is still one of our favorites!

2010
March

First Vacation

Our first real vacation was to Disney World.

2012
May 20

First Road Race

Matt's Mission 5K in North Branford, CT was our first running event together. It was Danielle's idea and we both ran casually to stay in shape. We ended up loving the day and we finally learned what road races were all about...now we're hooked.

The Proposal

We registered to run the Disney Princess Glass Slipper Challenge in February 2013. The weekend consisted of three races: 5k, 10k, and a Half Marathon. We dressed up as Disney couples for each race, and saved our best costumes for the Half: Princess Leia and Han Solo. We chose Star Wars characters not only because Disney officially owned the franchise, but also because Star Wars Episode III was our first date back in 2005.

The Half Marathon course went through the Magic Kingdom park and had runners go through the castle. As we had approached the back of the castle, we took a picture with Mickey and Minnie and got ready to run through. As we ran through the castle between miles 6 and 7, Steve took me aside and told me he had to ask me something, and then I realized what was about to happen! The photographers and race officials escorted us to the front of the castle, where Steve got down on one knee and proposed in a Han Solo costume. In a sweaty mess of tears and excitement, I said yes!

The rest of the race was a blur, and we celebrated with friends at the finish line and at Epcot for the rest of the day!

“We both feel like we are already members of eachothers families, but now we are making it official!”

Bridesmaids

  • Lisa Acosta

Lisa and I met at the Academic Advisement Center where we were student workers at SCSU. Since meeting, Lisa has been my best friend providing endless encouragement and support. You can find Lisa and me enjoying Cannoli beers at Wheeler’s in New Haven, taking classes at the gym, or enjoying a girl date at Pacifico!

    Jackie Clements

The one good thing from working at Aerotek is that it started a lifelong friendship between Jackie and me. We quickly bonded over work frustrations

    Madison Zimmerman

AKA Sone. Madison is my cousin and together we enjoy shopping, makeup hauls, and Misquamicut trips.

    Carolyn Shea

(College friend, DPHIE sister)– Carolyn and I majored in Interpersonal Communication at SCSU, and bonded in a COM design class over Carolyn’s love of brick walls. The friendship was further strengthened as alumni over our love of running!

    Daniella Diaz

(College friend, DPHIE sister) – Daniella and I met through Carolyn and SCSU and our love of running. We have participated in many races together since!

    Lauren Ciocca

Lauren and me go way back to the 7th grade when I used to drive Lauren crazy about who was the cutest member of NSYNC and have remained friends ever since!

    Lauren Kinell

Lauren and I met in 7th grade. We became close when Steve and I started dating, since Lauren’s boyfriend Adam is one of Steve’s best friends!

    Annie-Jorden Tomaszek

Annie-Jorden is my youngest cousin and one of my good friends. It has been incredible to watch Annie-Jorden grow up right in front of me through the years.

    Groomsman

  • Nick Carlino

Nick and I have been friends since the first time I went over Danielle's. He's my best friend and one of the only people who gets half of my jokes. We always enjoy "just a coupla' drinks".

    James Ciocca

I met James through Nick and his sister Lauren. James and I played softball this past year along with my cousin Brian. Together with Nick we always have a good time and stay out of trouble...for the most part...except at Yankee stadium.

    Andrew Smith

Andrew and I met through Lisa and working at SCSU. We both love food, cars, and good cigars.

    Ryan Donnelly

Ryan is my cousin and one of the funniest people I know. As a kid, I must have slept over Ryan's house over 100 times...many of those were for weeks at a time.

    Brian Donnelly

Brian is my cousin and the best damn softball coach around...winning records aside.

    Adam Balasco

Adam and I have been friends ever since 7th grade English class. We played in the band in high school, and share a love for all things stupid and ridiculous.

    Tom Farnsworth

Tom and I became good friends when we started Freshman year of High School. Tom is the person who really introduced me to Computers and what 'gaming' really was. In a weird way Tom is the person who helped spark my interest in technology. Tom also took the leap with me when we joined the tennis team in High School. We've enjoyed a lot of hours playing with & against eachother on the court and on the screen
